Paving the way for zero-emission freight: 2nd European truck charging symposium Announced

-

The transition to zero-emission freight transport in Europe takes a decisive step forward with the announcement of the 2nd European Truck Megawatt Charging Symposium, taking place on 30 September and 1 October 2025 at Fraunhofer ENIQ, EUREF Campus, Berlin.

Bringing together approximately 200 invited European experts from research, industry, NGOs, and policymaking, the symposium will serve as a focused platform to address one of the most pressing challenges in sustainable logistics: deploying large-scale charging infrastructure for battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles.

Driving Cross-European Collaboration

The event is organised within the framework of two leading European initiatives:

HoLa – High Performance Charging for Long-Haul Trucking
Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, the HoLa project focuses on demonstrating high-power charging along major transport corridors and integrating these solutions into logistics operations.

MACBETH – Multipoint Megawatt Charging for Battery Electric Truck Hubs
Co-funded by the European Union, MACBETH builds on cutting-edge research and real-life pilot demonstrations to enable the rollout of multi-vehicle megawatt charging systems, making large-scale decarbonisation of freight transport a tangible reality.

Together, these projects highlight the critical role of collaboration in turning technical innovations into system-wide solutions.

A Forum for Knowledge Exchange

The two-day symposium will feature high-level presentations, expert panel discussions, and interactive in-person sessions covering topics such as:

  • Infrastructure readiness and deployment strategies

  • Grid integration and system-level challenges

  • Insights from ongoing megawatt charging pilot projects

  • Policy support mechanisms and industry needs

The event is deliberately designed for in-person discussions only, with no proceedings published afterward, to foster open and constructive dialogue among participants.
